AI and the Future of Film

Jack speaking at the workshop

Jack Jones (SG 2004) recently contributed to the CoSTAR National Lab workshop, an initiative designed to explore how AI can transform film and digital content production.

Held at Royal Holloway, University of London, the event brought together UK-based creative and technology companies to dive into cutting-edge research on AI-driven video production pipelines. Participants explored practical applications such as:

  • AI model training for character consistency

  • Costume dressing and actor-driven motion performance

  • Legal, ethical, and inclusive representation challenges in AI workflows

Jack’s expertise in the legal aspects of emerging technologies added vital insight to discussions about how businesses can innovate responsibly while navigating complex regulations.

The CoSTAR Network, funded by UK Research and Innovation and delivered by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, is the UK’s first national R&D network serving gaming, TV, film, and performance sectors. Its mission is to help creative businesses experiment, grow, and stay ahead in an AI-enabled future.

Jack’s involvement exemplifies the impact OCs are making across industries by pioneering change and shaping the future of storytelling.
