Do you remember Reverend Harry Edwards?

In 1966 Kyffin Williams, Art Master at Highgate from 1944-73, painted this portrait of the Reverend Harry Edwards, who was the vicar at St Michael’s Church at the time. It was one of three pictures by Kyffin that were featured in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition that year. Harry lived in the parsonage on Southwood Lane and visited School several times during the 1960s to preach sermons and help with confirmation classes.

Harry’s great niece is currently trying to find out more about him and wonder whether anyone has any memories of his visits to School that they would be happy to share?  Please write to david.smith@highgateschool.org.uk if you have any tales to tell.
