Freddie Tucker - Middlesex County Championship

Golf

Freddie Tucker produced an outstanding achievement by winning the Middlesex County Championship at Wyke Green Golf Club on 14 June. In doing so, he became the first OC to claim the prestigious title since the club’s foundation in 1904. Freddie also enjoyed further success in the team event, representing Highgate Golf Club, where he helped secure victory to complete an impressive double.

The Senior Darwin Salver team (Over-65s) were narrowly defeated by a strong Charterhouse side in the first round on Tuesday 9 June. Despite a spirited performance, the team were unable to progress, with the competition ultimately being won by Eton.

Team members: Peter Dunbar (MG 1975), Gerald Wingrove (NG 1973), Robert Audley (NG 1974), Peter Langrish-Smith (NG 1973), Howard Olivere (NG 1971), Mark Walton (FG 1971)

Annual OCs vs School Golf Match

The annual OCs vs School golf match took place yesterday, with 11 students, 6 teachers and 7 OCs enjoying a warm and challenging day on the course.

With groups playing varying numbers of holes, determining an overall winner proved difficult, but there were several standout performances. For the students, Meyer Summerfield (Year 8) scored 21 points from 11 holes, while Alice Rastvortseva (Year 9) achieved 16 points from 9 holes. Andrew Waters (EG 2018) led the OCs with 28 points from 14 holes, and Jack Flowers topped the teachers with 20 points from 11 holes.

Special recognition goes to the only group to complete the full 18 holes: Liam Moores (SG 2021), Sebby Weber (student) and Simon Edwards (teacher).

A successful and enjoyable day all round – well done to everyone involved.

The team showed great cohesion and determination on court, with standout contributions across the squad. Special recognition goes to Players of the Match, Bea Rayner (NG 2018) and Lizzie Mills (SG 2021), who both put in excellent performances to help guide OCs to victory.
