A Wedding Steeped in City Tradition for Chris Bicknell (EG 1981)

Congratulations to Chris Bicknell, who recently celebrated his marriage to Sara Hilditch in a remarkable ceremony at the heart of the City of London. 

Chris, Master of the Worshipful Company of Architects, and Sara, known within the livery movement as The Mistress, were joined by more than 120 supporters in what is believed to be the first wedding procession of its kind in the City for centuries. The procession featured 60 Masters of London livery companies, accompanied by the Lady Mayor of London, Dame Susan Langley, and an escort of Pikemen and Musketeers in traditional uniform.  

The wedding party processed from Mansion House to St Lawrence Jewry Church before returning through the City's historic streets, drawing applause from visitors and passers-by. The occasion was a colourful celebration of both the couple and the rich traditions of the City of London.
