Remembering former teacher Ieuan Roberts

We are very sad to report that William Ieuan Roberts, former Music Teacher at Highgate Junior School, passed away on 13 March 2022 at the age of 90.

William was a huge inspiration to many of his pupils, teaching at the School from September 1976 to August 1986 before embarking upon a successful career in music. William's funeral was held on 5 April 2022 in Eastbourne, where Ian MacGregor (EG 1979), a former student of William's, gave a touching tribute:

I was talking to a friend about Ieuan and we both agreed that it is not too much to describe him as a genius. His teaching was truly inspirational. He affected so many of our lives deeply, and I can honestly say I ower my whole life to him - he gave me my life-long love of music and set me on the path that led me to become a full-time professional musician.
— Ian MacGregor (EG 1979)
