We are very sad to report that William Ieuan Roberts, former Music Teacher at Highgate Junior School, passed away on 13 March 2022 at the age of 90.
William was a huge inspiration to many of his pupils, teaching at the School from September 1976 to August 1986 before embarking upon a successful career in music. William's funeral was held on 5 April 2022 in Eastbourne, where Ian MacGregor (EG 1979), a former student of William's, gave a touching tribute:
“I was talking to a friend about Ieuan and we both agreed that it is not too much to describe him as a genius. His teaching was truly inspirational. He affected so many of our lives deeply, and I can honestly say I ower my whole life to him - he gave me my life-long love of music and set me on the path that led me to become a full-time professional musician.”
