Richard Beales (HG 1966) has died at age 70.
Richard John Beales sadly passed away on 17th September 2024 at age 70, following a long illness. Amongst his many school friends, he had something of a reputation as a prankster utilising his knowledge of chemistry in a practical way. He left school to read Chemistry at Surrey University but decided after one year that that was not the path he wanted to take. He joined Camden Council as an Environmental Health Officer. This formed the basis for his subsequent career in industrial safety, working in fabrication, construction, management consultancy, ultimately with the London Borough of Enfield. He formed a business partnership with his wife, Laura, whom he had first met through working together in 1989. They moved out of London to a house in the country just outside the village of Fearn to the north of Inverness and lived there for the twenty years up to his death. Laughter and friendship were important to him and he kept up well with his old school friends. The funeral and interment were at Kilmuir Easter Church, nearby Invergordon. Much missed, Richard leaves Laura, his sister and her family.
