Sad news: former teacher Alan Palmer has died

We are very sad to report that Alan Palmer, former Head of History at Highgate and esteemed writer, has died at the age of 96.

Hugely respected by his pupils, Alan taught at the School from September 1951 to December 1969 before embarking upon a very successful career in writing and research. An expert on East European History and a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, he taught countless OCs from his high desk in Room 9 and will be sadly missed.

Please do send any memories or thoughts to OC@highgateschool.org.uk.
