Emerging Engineers Award

Congratulations to Timur Bolotin (NG 2020) for winning the South West regional final of the 2024 ICE Emerging Engineers Award!

Timur presented his research project about the use of modelling to predict the possible failure of overhead power cables in the UK due to a phenomenon known as galloping, where electricity lines move in the wind which impressed the judges. To aid in system maintenance and future expansion, Timur plans to further his research and create a model of the National Grid.
