The OC Over 50s began their Cricketer Cup 2026 campaign with a challenging away fixture at the perennially strong Old Tonbridgians.
After winning the toss, OCs chose to bat and made an excellent start. David Amato (TL 1988) and Richard Moxon (SH 1986) put on a fluent opening partnership, taking the score to 79–1 after 19 overs in the 35‑over contest. Both fell in quick succession, however, and despite some powerful lower‑order hitting from Nigel Bacon (SH 1980), the innings closed on 147–8.
With the ball, Amato delivered a characteristically metronomic opening spell, reducing the hosts to 9–2, well supported by Tom Gladwin (WG 1991), Adrian Fawden (WG 1982) and Richard Moxon. A superb century from one of the Old Tonbridgian openers ultimately proved decisive, as the hosts reached the target with six wickets in hand and eight overs to spare.
Scores: OCs 147–8 (Moxon 36, Amato 29, Bacon 24), Old Tonbridgians 149–4 (Amato 2–28).
