A UK Premiere at Longborough Festival Opera

Oskar McCarthy (SG 2007) will be appearing as Wagner-dæmon in the UK premiere of Avner Dorman’s opera Wahnfried: The Birth of the Wagner Cult at Longborough Festival Opera this spring! 

The opera was commissioned by conductor Justin Brown to sit alongside the Kahlsruhe State Theatre's Ring in 2017 and was nominated for a prestigious International Opera Award in the Best New Opera category. Brown returns to Longborough to conduct five performances between 27th May and 14th June, directed by Polly Graham with a cast of leading British singers including Susan Bullock CBE as Cosima Wagner, and Mark Le Brocq as Houston Stewart Chamberlain.
