Japanese Gardening

At the beginning of April, Theo Charnley (KG 2009) was able to fulfil his lifelong dream of going to Japan.

Theo started a career in gardening and garden design a few years ago which has given him some exposure to Japanese gardening. In awe of Japanese technique and craft, Theo decided to take part in a pilot 5-day training programme in Kyoto. This programme was facilitated by a family run landscaping firm, Ueyakato Landscapes, which has been in the family for 8 generations. They launched the training programme this year which is for non-Japanese speaking foreigners to learn traditional Japanese gardening techniques.
