Join Jake Portner (MG 2018) at School on 17 October for his Charity Running Challenge

Jake Portner is taking on an incredible fundraising challenge this October, running a mile for every date of the month: one mile on 1 October, two on 2 October, and so on up to 31 miles on 31 October. By the end of the month, Jake will have completed a remarkable 496 miles in support of the Royal Free Charity

The challenge is inspired by the care Jake's parents received at the Royal Free Hospital, where his father, Jonathan, underwent a kidney transplant in July 2025, with his mother, Sharon, donating her kidney.

Jake said: "My Dad received a kidney transplant at the Royal Free Hospital in July 2025, with my Mum donating her kidney. The care they received was incredible, and this challenge is my way of saying thank you and helping the charity continue its amazing work."

Members of the OC community are invited to join Jake on Saturday 17 October at Highgate School, when he will be running 17 miles. Whether you'd like to run a few miles, the full distance, or simply come along to show your support, everyone is welcome.

We wish Jake the very best of luck with his challenge and fundraising efforts.
