Leila Ramzan (WG 2024) Launches Student Housing Platform
Leila Ramzan (WG 2024)
Leila Ramzan, currently studying BSc Philosophy, Politics and Economics at King's College London, is making waves in the student housing sector as the Founder and CEO of The Common, a student-led civic technology platform designed to make student accommodation more transparent through verified, anonymous reviews.
Recognising that many students choose where to live based on little more than marketing images and virtual tours, Leila created The Common to provide a clearer picture of what accommodation is really like before students commit to a tenancy. The platform has already achieved significant early success, featuring 136 verified and moderated student reviews across 33 London accommodation buildings.
Recent developments include a 60-second accommodation matcher, live insight tools highlighting student feedback on rent, facilities and maintenance issues, and a Freshers' Guide built around the questions students wish they had asked before signing a contract.
Currently focused on London, The Common is expanding its presence among students at UCL and LSE, building on communities already established at King's College London and Imperial College London. Looking ahead, Leila plans to introduce a founding team as the platform enters its next phase of growth.
By creating a trusted source of student-led information, Leila is helping students make more informed housing decisions and building a valuable community around one of the most important aspects of university life.
