OCs go the distance at the London Marathon

Congratulations to those OCs who completed this year’s London Marathon and supported a wide range of charitable causes.

Luca Trill (FG 2020) completed the marathon in an impressive 2:45, running in support of Cure CLCN4. Luca’s fundraising was inspired by his sister, Daphne, who was born with an extremely rare genetic condition affecting her CLCN4 gene, impacting her movement, learning and vision. His family established Cure CLCN4 to fund medical research, raise awareness and connect families worldwide affected by the condition, with the aim of developing future treatment options and providing support and hope.

Orla McMenamin (KG 2020), completed the course with an impressive 3:07, also running in support of CLCN4.

Tom Scoones (GH 2011) ran his first London Marathon in aid of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, alongside family members, in memory of his fiancée Georgie’s mother, Lucy.

Oliver Blair (FG 2006) ran for Race Against Dementia, supporting research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Former Head Boy Dr Dan Magnus (WG 1998) completed the marathon for Child.org, the maternal and child health charity he co‑founded 25 years ago, supporting safer pregnancy and birth care across Kenya.

Alex Carver (MG 2013) ran for Barts Charity, in gratitude for the care his father received at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 2024.

Looking ahead, we look forward to hearing from OCs around the world (and on these shores) who have volunteered to run as part of the School Giving Day challenge on 16/17 June. These runners provide inspiration to current pupils as they run on the senior field to raise funds for the school bursary programme and LAET. Sign up details coming soon.
