Sporting Excellence - From Inter‑House to Elite Sport
As Inter‑House Athletics takes place at School this week, we celebrate OCs who have turned their athletic talents into a career.
Sophia Parvizi‑Wayne (WG 2015) has built a career rooted in endurance sport, from swimming and distance running - including earning an international vest as a junior athlete - to competing today as a professional HYROX athlete. In March 2025, she won the HYROX European Championships in Vienna, breaking the Women’s Open world record. Alongside her athletic career, Sophia has spent more than a decade immersed in performance research, coaching and community building, and is now co‑founder of The Quarter Athletics Club, bringing elite training systems to everyday athletes.
She is joined by James Kadziak (QG 2021), an accomplished endurance athlete who has competed at elite level across athletics and triathlon. James holds a 5km road personal best of 15:05 and races internationally on the World Triathlon circuit, representing Poland at European Cups and Championships alongside strong national‑level podium finishes.
Matt Kaminer (EG 2022) continues to make an impact on the international triathlon stage. Recently, he recorded a career‑best fourth place finish at Challenge Gran Canaria, one of the sport’s most demanding long‑course events, competing in extreme heat against a stacked professional field.
A professional Ironman triathlete and medical student at the University of Bristol, Matt’s result marks a significant milestone in his progression at elite level, reflecting his ability to combine academic study with the physical and mental demands of high‑performance endurance racing.
