OCs in Medicine Inspire the Next Generation
OCBS Medicine event at St Thomas’ Hospital
Terry Wong (WG 1986) hosted the recent OCBS Medicine event at Governors Hall, St Thomas’ Hospital. The event saw OCs in Healthcare provide advice and mentoring to aspiring medics from School and LAE Tottenham.
Throughout the session, attending OCs shared their experiences from a wide range of medical specialisms, offering honest reflections on their professional journeys. Students gained insight into the realities of medical training, day‑to‑day clinical work, and the many rewarding career routes within the healthcare sector.
Following an informative Q&A, guests enjoyed refreshments and an opportunity to network, reconnect, and continue conversations in a more informal setting.
One student shared:
“The OCBS Medicine event was a great opportunity to hear the thoughts of OCs working in various different areas of the medical profession. I got valuable insights about working as a doctor, and we were given helpful tips for enhancing applications to study medicine at university.”
