Championing Skills and Opportunity
Robert speaking at the Make UK National Manufacturing Conference
Rt Hon Robert Halfon (QG 1987) has recently marked another significant chapter in his long‑standing commitment to skills, apprenticeships, and social mobility.
Robert joined Make UK in September last year as Executive Director with responsibility for Membership, Policy and Communications, supporting the work of the CEO and Chairman. Make UK is a major national organisation representing and supporting the UK manufacturing sector. It serves as the leading voice of Britain’s manufacturers, providing policy leadership, advocacy, industry research, skills development initiatives, and guidance for thousands of manufacturing businesses across the country.
At his first annual Make UK National Manufacturing Conference at the QEII Centre in London this month, Halfon chaired and spoke at a Skills Panel with other industry leaders, discussing the challenges facing skills, including funding, training provision, and lifelong learning.
Robert also spoke on the podcast, 'Skillfully Speaking' presented by Stephanie McGovern, with brilliant young engineer, Marisa Kurimbokus FWES, CEng. Robert commented: “It’s always energising to be in a room full of manufacturers who are shaping the future of our sector. Manufacturing is evolving at pace. The organisations that invest in their people – and think differently about skills – will be the ones that stay competitive.”
