Congratulations to Shashank Joshi on his appointment as Washington Bureau Chief for The Economist, one of the world's most influential news publications. In his new role, Shashank will lead the magazine's coverage of American politics, foreign policy and international affairs from Washington, D.C.
Prior to this promotion, Shashank served for eight years as The Economist's Defence Editor, where he wrote the widely read War Room newsletter, presented the Inside Defence video podcast, and became a leading commentator on global security and geopolitical issues.
Many will also have seen Shashank on BBC Newsnight recently, where he brought his trademark insight and analysis to discussions of international affairs.
