Super Over Thriller Headlines Busy Week for OCs Sport

Annual OC vs School Cricket Match

Highgate School 1st XI 149/9 (20)

Old Cholmeleians 1st XI 149/6 (20)

The annual OC vs School match took place on Friday, 3 July, in glorious sunshine. The OCs batted first and shared the runs around, with Eddie Tse (SG 2013) scoring 30, and Aran P, Tom Halstead (FG 2000), and Jamie Sperling (QG 2011) all contributing over 20 runs each, finishing on 149/6.

Highgate’s 1st XI made a positive start but lost wickets consistently to find themselves at 86/9, at which point a fantastic last-wicket partnership brought the school to a tie. Though it was close to 9pm, the school players clamoured for a super over, which the OCs were more than happy to oblige. The school scored 11 from their super over, and the OCs fell just 2 runs short. A great evening’s cricket was had by all, with particular thanks to all the school staff who enabled the game to happen.
