Old Cholmeleians CC faced challenging fixtures, with the 1st and 2nd XIs falling to defeats despite determined efforts.
1st XI vs Walton-at-Stone CC 1st XI
Result: Lost by 10 wickets

After being put into bat, the 1st XI were dismissed for 82 in a challenging innings where partnerships proved difficult to build and wickets fell at regular intervals.
With the ball, OCs were unable to make early inroads as Walton-at-Stone’s openers controlled the chase from the outset, reaching the target comfortably without loss to secure a 10-wicket victory.
2nd XI vs Botany Bay CC 2nd XI
Result: Lost by 10 wickets
Old Cholmeleians CC 2s: 78 (25.3)
Botany Bay CC 2s: 79/0 (15.1)
Batting first, the 2nd XI posted 78 in a low-scoring contest, with the side finding it tough to build sustained momentum despite spending over 25 overs at the crease.
In reply, Botany Bay chased efficiently, with their openers seeing the side home without loss. Despite OCs’ efforts in the field, the breakthrough never came as the hosts completed a comfortable 10-wicket win.
Despite the outcomes, both fixtures were closely contested and featured encouraging individual displays from across the teams.
Upcoming Cricket Match!
On Sunday 7 June, OCs compete in the first round of the Cricketer Trophy, travelling to face local rivals Old Millhillians at their cricket grounds (The Ridgeway, London NW7 1QS), with play starting at 11am - supporters are warmly encouraged to attend.
Golf competed in the qualifying round of the Public Schools Putting Competition, with eight schools taking part. Highgate produced a solid showing to finish in a mid-table 5th place.
The standout performer was Micky Tudor (WG 1991), who impressed by winning five of his seven matches on the day.
Only the top two schools will progress to next week’s Finals, but just as important was avoiding the drop into the bottom two places - something Highgate successfully achieved with a steady overall performance.
