Andrew Ray (QG 1970) has died at age 72
Andrew Ray passed away April 2025, following a long illness.
Andrew was a colleague in Queensgate. He was very resourceful, being a keen Scout. One summer he and Jonathan Hoffman (QG 1970) borrowed his mother’s Renault 4 and drove to Berlin, Prague, Kiev, Kharkov, Moscow, and Leningrad and camped. In Russia there were special areas in the campsites for foreign tourists.
After Bristol University, Andrew became an accountant. He lived in Holloway but eventually moved to Norwich. In 2010 he contacted leukemia. Unlike many, he recovered, although he suffered from some memory loss. He could no longer work as an accountant, so he took on voluntary tasks including an archaeological project in Norwich. Andy was always cheerful – his strength through his illnesses was an example to us all.
