Anthony Green RA (TL 1951) has died at the age of 83

GREEN (TL 1951). On February 14, of 2023,  Anthony Eric Sandall Green RA, aged 83.

Anthony attended Highgate School between 1951 and 1956, where he was taught Art by Sir Kyffin Williams. He then studied at the Slade School of Art. While there, he exhibited in the Young Contemporaries exhibitions, and met Mary Cozens-Walker, who later became his wife and muse. They had two daughters, Lucy and Kate.

He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy and made a full Academician six years later. Best known for his depictions of his wife Mary, the other distinguishing feature of his paintings was his style of large. irregularly shaped oils. Every year since 1966 he had exhibited at London’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, a record that very few other current artists can match.

Funeral Information

Anthony's funeral will take place at 12pm on Friday 10 March 2023 at Cambridge Crematorium, West Chapel, Huntingdon Road, Cambridge CB3 0J, and afterwards at Mole End.

Donations in lieu of flowers will be split between Artists Benevolent Fund or The United Reformed Church.
