Dr Charles Dewar Waterston (SG 1933) has died at age 99

Dr Charles Dewar Waterston (SG 1933) died on March 6th in Edinburgh, at the age of 99.

Charles attended Highgate between 1933 – 1941 and was one of the boys evacuated to Westward Ho! (which his nephew says ‘he loved and spoke of often’). Charles had to leave school early as his parents’ house was destroyed by a bomb and the family moved back to Edinburgh from London (where his father had been the London manager of the family business).

Charles was the younger brother of the late Allan Kinnear Waterston (SG 1931). Both can be seen in the picture below, provided by the school archivist. Charles is in the front row, second from the right and Allan is in the back row, seventh from the left.
