Edward Brentnall (HG 1940) has died at age 95

Dr Edward Brentnall has passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-five in Melbourne following an illustrious medical career which saw him pioneer the development of Emergency Medicine as a specialty in Australia.
Whilst at School, Edward was amongst those students who relocated to Westward Ho during the Second World War. On leaving School, he qualified in medicine (MBBS) in 1952 after which he became a Resident Medical Officer at University College Hospital in London. He was called up for National Service in 1954 and joined the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was posted to Singapore where he served for three and a half years during which time he was awarded the General Service medal (Malaya) in 1954 and the MBE (Military Division) in 1956. Whilst in Singapore he married his lifetime partner Hazel. On returning to England he undertook a Diploma of Obstetrics and entered General Practice in Kent before migrating to Australia in 1965.
Edward was the oldest OC in the Victoria, Australia group and a keen participant in their gatherings right up to the end of his life.
