Freddie Highmore (EG 2010) Returns in The Assassin

Freddie Highmore will return to screens in the newly confirmed Season 2 of The Assassin, the hit thriller series on Prime Video. The renewal was officially announced on 16 February 2026, with production set to begin later this year.  

Freddie has built an extraordinary career since leaving School. Best known globally for his leading roles in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland, August Rush, and the acclaimed series Bates Motel, he later starred for seven seasons in The Good Doctor, which concluded in 2024.  

His production company, Alfresco Pictures, continues to expand, and he remains an influential presence in both acting and creative development across the industry.  

About The Assassin

In The Assassin, Freddie stars as Edward, the estranged son of former assassin Julie (played by Keeley Hawes). The first season followed Edward’s search for answers about his past on a Greek island, only to be pulled into Julie’s dangerous former life.  

Critics praised the show’s stylish, high-energy approach and the gripping mother–son dynamic, with Season 1 earning a strong critical reaction and quickly rising to #1 on Prime Video UK charts.
