OC Sports Update
OC Cricket team secure comprehensive win over Southgate Adelaide
OC Cricket Team
OCs produced an emphatic all-round performance to defeat Southgate Adelaide 1st XI by 72 runs, delivering a dominant display with both bat and ball.
Batting first, OCs posted a formidable total of 249/5 from their 40 overs, built around a superb century from Mohsin Wairach. Wairach led the innings with a commanding 124 off 99 balls, anchoring the scoring and accelerating when needed in a knock that combined fluency with control.
He was ably supported by Hector Boyce (TL 2006), who provided stability and composure at the back end of the innings with an unbeaten 53*. Boyce’s contribution ensured OCs finished strongly, setting a challenging target for the visitors.
In response, Southgate Adelaide were restricted to 177/9, falling well short despite a determined effort. The OCs bowling attack remained disciplined throughout, consistently applying pressure and taking wickets at key intervals.
Arthur Martin was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3/38 in a controlled and effective spell. He was supported by Boyce, who rounded off an excellent all-round performance with a highly economical and incisive return of 2/2, helping to stifle any late momentum from the opposition.
The 2nd XI also delivered a competitive showing, with notable individual contributions:
Batting:
Ollie Jenne (EG 2010) top-scored with a solid 33, providing the backbone of the innings.
Bowling:
Asad Nisiri impressed with the ball, taking 2/16 in a tidy spell that helped maintain pressure on the opposition.
OC Golfers Show Spirit at Royal Wimbledon
OCs took on a strong field at the Grafton Morrish Qualifying (London Division) at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club. Facing a challenging course and tough competition, the OC team finished 11th out of 12.
Despite the result, the team showed resilience and camaraderie throughout, with plenty of determined play on a demanding layout.
Narrow Defeat for OC Netball
OCs were edged out 16-14 in a closely contested match against Super Handz yesterday. It was a tight and competitive game throughout, but ultimately just not our night.
With the new season starting on 26 May, the team will be looking to build on this performance and push for a return to the final-this time with a different result!
