Volunteering as a Mentor

Last night, ten OCs volunteered in the Mentoring Programme which brings together current pupils at LAET and School. The evening consisted of the OCs spending an hour and a half speaking to a small group of pupils about their industry and assigning them a task to work on as a team. In two weeks, each group will meet again with their mentor on Zoom to present their project. All groups have 2-5 pupils with a mixture from both schools to ensure they get to work with people they don’t know.

This programme provides pupils with the opportunity to learn more about the industry they are interested in, learn to work with others they do not know, and work on a project relating to that industry.

Thank you to Ben Shaps (SG 2008), Harry Fox (QG 2008), Oliver Cleveley-Jones (FG 2006), Kevin Xu (GH 2015), Oliver Dickson (KG 2015), Hugh Larkin (WG 2011), Joe Berriman (EG 2014), Daniel Woolf (QG 2008), Jamie Green (HG 2012), and Lucas Baumard (TL 2009) for taking the time to volunteer in the Mentoring Programme. Kids from both School and LAET walked out of the evening excited about what they learned and the project they will be working on.

There are many ways to volunteer your time at either schools regarding careers. If you are interested in volunteering to speak to pupils about your industry at School or LAET, please contact Alison Parson at alison.parsons@highgateschool.org.uk
